Th3rd was nominated by TNW editorial team to attend #TNW2018 as part of the Startup Program.

Described as “the leading tech conference in Europe”, TNW brings together about 15,000 attendees from different industries with a common purpose: to shape the future through technology and innovation.

Big organizations such as Accenture, Nike, PwC, Oracle and the Dutch police were present in the conference. The ability to connect big corporations with startups in order to lead innovative solutions was achieved at the event, bringing new connections coming from both parts for Th3rd.

Experts in fields such as futurism, AI, future of work or design gave talks in different topic-specific tracks, in several venues. Given that our field is Mixed Realities, Th3rd’s crew attended some really interesting speeches. From these talks, we could get an overview on where the combination of technology and human behavior is heading.


Self-described “Willy Wonka of design”, Nelly Ben Hayoun founded the University of the Underground, as an institution with the purpose of serving global citizens and promoting critical thinking. She pointed out the need of design-related skills in professional spheres to ensure technology serves societies for good.

Jack Constatine, Chief Digital Officer at Lush, emphasized the importance of driving change for retail through creating a brand with strong values. From fighting against unethical actions to defying retail giants, Lush’s case demonstrates things can be done differently in the retail industry.

S23NYC is Nike’s Digital Studio. Its General Manager, Ron Faris, talked about how to maintain the interest of the audience by using digital strategies. AR and 3D content are the main building blocks for most of their strategies, which achieve high rates of interaction between users, creating a sense of community among sneaker fans.


Some statements were proven: the way we interact and communicate with each other is progressively evolving into an “everytime online” one, where the real and the virtual worlds are merged into one.

Being selected to pitch our business idea at the Pitch tower, under the motto “connecting is the name of the game”, we presented out Product scanner concept to the audience, and it got positive feedback. With several applications, such as AR, VR, holography and product configuration, 3D content is expected to be the base to become future proof and lead the upcoming business digitization wave.
